Open Hearts Space builds a supportive community in Berlin centered around creativity, language, and movement. Through free and low-barrier activities, we create welcoming environments where women can meet, express themselves, and connect with others.
The program includes several regular initiatives: Open Art Space, Frauensprachcafé and Müttersprachcafé, two German language cafés for women and mothers, as well as Club der Sterne, a community for teenage girls. In addition, Open Hearts Space hosts other gatherings throughout the year, such as monthly Mindfulness Circles and the quarterly Open Disco Space, both open only to women.
All activities are free and designed to be accessible. All people involved in building these spaces benefit from community support and regularly reflect on their involvement.
Open Hearts Space began in 2015 as a grassroots response to the arrival of thousands of people seeking safety and a fresh start in Berlin. Since then, the program has developed alongside the diverse community behind it. Its core intention remains the same: to offer an open and caring environment where people can come together, share experiences, or simply find a moment of calm.
While Open Hearts Space focuses primarily on women, being open to children is an important part of the community. Many participants come with caregiving responsibilities, and making space for children helps ensure that everyone can take part, connect with others, and feel supported.
