The Open Language Cafés are spaces for learning languages in a relaxed and semi-structured environment. Rather than being a traditional language school with a teacher and a student, they allow people to interact casually over a cup of tea, coffee, and snacks. Participants are encouraged to speak freely on their topics of interest in smaller groups adjusted to their level of fluency. Competent speaker volunteers are on hand to provide guidance and more targeted learning for those who want to.
Since 2013, the Open Language Cafés have grown into a space that connects language learning with community. We are not about learning strict grammar rules or working through a textbook. Instead, we believe that people learn best in a relaxed atmosphere where they can support each other.
In addition to Open Language Cafés, Open Hearts Space runs several German-language cafés just for women. See more information here.
