Help us create more space for connection and community in Neukölln

For more than 11 years, Give Something Back to Berlin (GSBTB) has brought together migrants, refugees, and locals in a supportive community to combat loneliness, isolation, and societal fragmentation. GSBTB makes space for everybody, which means that more and more people join us every week. While this growth is amazing, we are running at capacity. Our workshops are full, and we are in danger of having to turn people away. We urgently need additional project spaces. Berliners know finding new places, especially in Neukölln, where our offers are needed the most, is nearly impossible. And yet, the impossible happened: we have found additional project spaces close to our current address. Bright, spacious, and accessible, the new rooms are exactly what we need to keep our community growing.

Our new project space

Close to our current project spaces, the new space would allow us to expand our offers and accommodate the growing demand for community and connection that we see in Neukölln. Our shared cooking sessions and music classes, in particular, run over capacity. The new space would enable us to welcome more people over shared meals and songs, expand our offers and create a space in the heart of Neukölln, where neighbours, friends, and strangers come together. For the first time, this space would also make all our offers completely accessible. We will stay in Refugio, but we want and have to grow. Our additional space will allow us to do so!

Help us build a truly inclusive community

Despite being home to almost four million, many residents in Berlin feel isolated, with reports indicating that one in ten people struggles with loneliness. In addition to individual loneliness, our societies are more fragmented than ever, with hateful stereotypes and anti-migrant sentiment and actions on the rise. Neukölln is very divided, with many different cultures and communities that exist in isolation from each other. Our vibrant, inclusive community of refugees, migrants, and locals provides a much-needed sense of belonging in Neukölln.

We believe that everyone deserves a safe space to explore and connect. Your donation would allow us to pay rent for our new project space for one year and would cover initial expenses such as furniture and a new coat of paint.
