420 or Not!

The Open Music School (OMS) is a musical skill-sharing community that facilitates a wide range of musical programs and events aiming to open up and connect Berlin’s existing music scene with newcomer communities.

The most recent illustration is the OMS band coaching workshops, a great opportunity for aspiring musicians to learn and develop their skills in playing as a group, crafting melodies, and performing live. The program not only nurtures musical talent but also fosters a sense of community among participants.

420 or Not! is one of the first bands in the coaching program and their music highlights the success of the workshops.

420 or Not! plays a mix of… funk/pop/dance/jazzy sounds.

The name of the band comes from… the first song they created together. The length of the song became the name of the band and it is also a word play.

The band members of 420 or Not! are… Rahel (lead voice), Lucrecia (bass), Sarah (guitar, harmony), Ali (ukulele, harmony), Georgi (keys), Sylvain (trompet), and Silviu (drums)

They met… through the Open Music School, where the majority have been participating in other musical programmes before as well. Some band members, such as Georgi and Silviu had played music together before.

They learnt about the OMS band coaching program… through Instagram. Signing up was rather easy through the website of the Open Music School.

Their musical influences are… Jazz, Funk, Dance, Latin, but also Punk and Rap.

Their plan for the future is… jamming for sounds and musical projects. They promise it‘ll be exciting!
